Star Power
Star Power is an exciting game of chance that can be played just for fun or to give away prizes.
Usually, when we play this game with more than one player we have the contestants represent teams which are comprised of the people in the audience. The contestants each pick their initial star which goes into their “bank”. After each of the contestants has banked their stars, the next contestant picks from the remaining stars and the points within that star are shown on the screen and given or taken away (Black Hole) from the contestant. Hidden inside some of the stars are Double Bonus Stars (these double the points of that star) and Black Holes which subtract the value of the star. The excitement builds as points are added or taken away from the players, all with out of this world graphics and sounds. Once all of the stars are revealed we show the stars from the bank; this can change everything! We start with the person with the lowest score and continue until all of the banked stars are shown, and of course the winner or winning team is the one with the highest score! We have a lot of flexibility with Star Power and therefore can customize it for a wide variety of events and age groups.
Before we begin, we set up our game show with one to four players and our screen with four to twenty four stars, all with numbers. Behind the stars are point values. Some stars will also have a "Black Hole" which resets players to zero or double ponits.
Either we manually (through a trivia question or hit button), choose a player to go first or the computer can select the starting player. Once they start, they player "banks" one of the stars. From this point on, the players move in order, tring to bank points from the stars until all of the stars are off of the board. The Double Bonus Stars add to the excitement by adding the trhill of extra points and the Black Hole Stars insight the agony of losing points wheny they are picked.
Players scores can be displayed on our standard Trivia Blitz podiums if there is room on the stage or just displayed on a screen.
It is sort of like that Deal game or our Take It Er Leave It game with multiple players.
This game might make a great finale, a stand alone booth game, or just excitement when no trivia is necessary.
Can be branded with company names and logos and variations including future prizes and sponsors (sort of like our Promotion Commotion game).
Game Play Scenarios:
Star Power played as a game of chance: After the star is selected by the contestant, the star that has been picked appears full screen to the audience. On the operator screen after the star is selected two buttons appear (Play and Pass). The operator simply pushes the Play button and the points hidden within the star are added or subtracted (in the case of a Black Hole) to/from the contestants’ score.
Star Power Trivia: After the star is selected by the contestant, the star that has been picked appears full screen to the audience. On the operator screen after the star is selected two buttons appear (Play and Pass). At this point the host can ask a trivia question. If the contestant answers correctly, the operator selects the Play button and the points are added (or subtracted if Black Holes are being used). If the player answers incorrectly, the operator would push the Pass button and the point value behind the star is revealed but is NOT added to the score of the contestant.
Star Power Mixer: After each contestant has picked their star to bank. The stars are picked by either an opponent or someone in the audience. The star that has been picked appears full screen for the audience. On the operator screen after the star is selected two buttons appear (Play and Pass). Now the contestant chooses whether they want to Play or Pass. Keep in mind that when you set up the game you can put in up to 4 Black Holes which subtract points. Of course the audience will "chime" in, increasing the suspense even more. If the player chooses the Play the points are added (or subtracted) from his or her score. If the player chooses to Pass the points are shown but the score stays the same.
